This frame was made in Petra, Jordan. I always see the local kids running around tourists and selling them different stuff, but this time i saw a group of kids, (which to me seemed more like siblings) playing around with each other. The girl in the middle was the most active of them, she stuck her tounge out and i caught the moment on film.
What made me make this picture was the sense of happiness i saw in the girl. She seemed not to care about the world and had no worries at all. The girl in the back, looking silently, the brother eating his pack of chips and the girl with the crazy hair, all contribute to why this is one of my favorite pictures.
I shot this using a Canon Eos 1V with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. The camera was loaded with ilford hp5 at iso 400, and as i remember it was 1/250th @ f/4. I used this combination to capture the facial expression and the movement of the girl, plus to give just enough seperation between her and the girl behind her.
